Church State

County Coordinator Ministry Guidelines

  1. Each county and church becomes a part of a national grass-roots network that works in collaboration with the vision of “Cry Out America!” and the national office.
  2. Each county-coordinator is encouraged to recruit a team (See COA County Leadership Team Tasks) to assist in: resourcing pastors and Christian leaders, laity and parachurch organizations; calling the Christian community to repentance and renewal as an example to the county and its cities and to fresh vision and vitality focused on a Christ Awakening.
  3. Work to identify supporting and collaborating congregations in the county that will call their constituents to prayer and renewal, and participation in the “Cry Out America” initiative.
  4. Promote the “Cry Out America” rally on September 28, and the auxiliary activities suggested through local churches, ministries and the media.
  5. Work with various denominations, pastors and parachurch leaders, to assure broad interdenominational support of these renewal efforts.
  6. Develop a plan for comprehensive prayer walking…that blankets the community. In some counties, multiple towns and cities can prayer walk simultaneously, with time to join the rally at the Courthouse. [Imagine thousands of simultaneous prayer walks across the nation on 9-28!]
  7. Develop a plan for marketplace-based prayer cell groups embedded daily throughout the community, praying quietly and passionately, at or near their workplaces during the week of awakening. Target time: Noon, daily.
  8. Nurture the idea of on-going prayer and unity efforts in the community.

Purpose

  • To increase awareness of the deep spiritual need in today's America and to pursue a new Christ awakening in our nation

  • To encourage all to seek a contemporary spiritual awakening across the nation and to challenge today's church in welcoming and discipling new generations of American youth

  • To issue a wake-up call for revival in the church and a Christ awakening in the nation by utilizing unified activity, various forms of media, and highly visible events

  • To collaborate together in prayer, fasting, and God inspired action to impact the nation's non-Christian population

  • To lay a foundation for continued local efforts toward united prayer and evangelism

Coordinator Action Steps

In planning, promotion, and implementation of your "Cry Out America" prayer gathering, we suggest the following action steps:

  • Enlist a prayer team consisting of individuals and local churches to consistently pray preceding the event. Determine if the prayer team will meet together for prayer or if they will pray individually. If they would like to meet, decide on frequency of meetings, dates, times, and location. Provide a calendar

  • Make a list of individuals, pastors, community, and civic leaders who would serve as members of a team to assist you in the following:

    • Connecting with every pastor/church in your county to support and participate in a county-wide prayer gathering September 28.

    • Inviting pastors (preferably at churches with facilities large enough) to open their churches and coordinate a simulcast of the September 28 America for Jesus Prayer Gathering in Philadelphia.

    • Make sure every church registers on the website. Following registration, they will receive a FREE download: “Informed on Islam.”

    • Solicit sponsors for advertising, printing, etc.

    • Program planning
      • The website contains some sample program information as a resource. While the “spirit” of the program is representative of the Cry Out America effort, no community is tightly bound to the precise script.
      • The movement is a grassroots movement and the program should reflect the community—its concerns, its Christian constituency, its diversity, and its passion.
      • Try to keep the gathering to an hour or within the time frame announced. These are not preaching rallies—avoid long sermons, including long prayers. This is a community prayer service.
      • Contact the Cry Out America office for a full copy of the County-Leadership Team Member Tasks.

If possible, request the local newspaper provide a reporter on site at the event and offer a press release to give all the correct information about the Awakening America Alliance.
